The Rhinos of Kruger National Park

Africa is home to many species of animals. Giraffe, lion, leopard, cheetah, crocodile, impala, and zebra, just to name a few. But the one I'm writing about today is the rhino.

The assault on South Africa's rhino population is catastrophic. It's so bad that they're moving a minimum of 500 of the animals to save havens, away from the areas where a lot of deaths have happened. This year already, 631 rhinos have been poached for various reasons, 408 of them have been from Kruger National Park in South Africa. South Africa is home to nearly half of South Africa's estimated 21,000 rhinos. South Africa is home to 93 percent of Africa’s white rhino and 39 percent of its black rhino. But with the country struggling with the onslaught from increasingly-better equipped poachers and the international crime syndicates that hire them, South Africa is now also turning to neighboring states to provide havens for at least some of its rhinos.
